Parenting Made Easy
Introducing solid foods into your baby's diet.

Baby food

The basic baby food from birth is milk. Ideally, the baby will have breastmilk the first six month of her life, wich will give her all the nutrients she needs to grow and develop, and also protection against diseases.
But if the mother decides not to breastfeed, formula milk (made from cow milk proteins) is design to satisfy all the needs of your little one.
After the sixth month is convenient to start feeding baby solid foods, one by one, never forcing her (check always first with your pediatrician before starting giving any solid food to your baby).

Baby Food: Cereals -
Cereals are normally the first solid food babies have. These cereals should be gluten free, mainly tapioca, corn and rice. They can be mixed as a paste with milk or water.
After the baby is the nine months old, cereals with gluten might be introduced in the diet: wheat, oats, semola, barley and rye. Prepared as a paste or like it is.

Baby Food: Fruits -
You should give your baby one variety of fruit each time. That way if any fruit gives her an allergy reaction you will know which one. Start puring a pear in a blender and give the baby a couple of spoons in the afternoon. A couple of days later, gives her apples, then bananas, papaya and last orange (some babies find orange too acidic and go off fruit all together). You could mixed fruits with milk, cereals or juice.

Baby Food: Vegetables -
You should introduce vegetables in your babies diet one by one, with a week in between them. Avoid those of green leaf vegetables (beets, spinach) until the baby turns nine months. Boil vegetables with little water and no salt and before giving them to the baby remove all pips and skins. They are taken in pure, squashed with the folk or in small pieces.

Baby Food: Meat -
The meat iis ntroduced in the baby's diet towards the sixth or seventh month, starting with chicken and beef. The meat is served cooked and crushed with a vegetables pure or fried with little oil and cut in pieces that the baby can take with her fingers.

Baby Food: Eggs -
It is not convenient to give babies eggs before they are ten month old, to avoid possible allergies. To begin with, they should only have them boiled and not the whole egg yolk.

Baby Food: Fish -
As the eggs, is not convenient to give the baby fish before they are ten month old, to avoid possible allergies. You can serve it blended with the vegetable pure, but remember to check well for bones!

Baby Food: Legumes -
When the baby is one year old can take chick-peas, lentils, beans... in pure, crushed or whole.

The giant playroom of the Parenting Center buzzed with activity as children took advantage of playing with their peers and siblings as moms, aunts, babysitters and nannies looked on. Then pizza time arrived, complete with party hats. The first Wednesday pizza lunch is a tradition at the center, where birthdays for that month are celebrated by all.
