Ovulation and Spotting: Why Does This Happen?

Ovulation and spotting time often times go hand in hand. Although there are other physical explanations for spotting, ovulation is frequently the culprit. Now that you know that the two are related, you might be wondering why ovulation causes spotting and if there is anything you can do about it. The reason some women experience spotting during or after ovulation is because the level of estrogen in the body decreases after ovulation. However, do not be concerned because a day or even two of light spotting during and after ovulation is considered normal.

Whether you spot or not during ovulation does not have any impact on whether you can conceive during this time. It should have no effect on you other than necessitating some form of panty liner or tampon. However, if you are concerned about your
spotting and do not think it is related to ovulation then you should talk to your doctor immediately. It could also be a sign of an STD or some other infection. If this is the case, a visit to the doctor should help diagnose the problem and you will be able to get some treatment to handle the situation. Regardless, if you are spotting during ovulation do not allow
yourself to become overworked or upset over it. It is a common occurrence and most women experience it at some time during their lives if not frequently. Remember, any and all questions should be directed to your physician.
