Start in the day care centre

The step from home to the nursery or day care center can bring difficulties.
Enter the day-care center or the school represents an important change, because the child separates from home and mom. Therefore, the little one must live this experience like an opportunity to do new things, not like an abandonment.
This phase requires days of adaptation. The presence of the father or the mother facilitates the separation, because the child knows that if he needs help, he has a known adult at his disposition. The father or the mother must introduce him to the educators or teachers to, showing confidence towards them, so the child knows that he can trust them.
In general the adaptation process take 15 days more or less. The parents must take into account that the child might need more time to adapt to his new environment without the presence of his parents. Most difficult is to know when the child is prepared to remain in the day-care center without the presence of his parents.
What to do if the baby does not want to separate of his mom? If the mother is frightened to separate of her son she can create insecurity to him. If you verify that the day-care center is OK and there are no problems, perhaps it is necessary to consider that, if the baby is smaller of 9 or 10 months, is possible that he is not prepared to be separated from home and his family. Is advisable to delay the enter the day-care center. In this case, if the mother works will be necessary to look for another solution (for example to leave to the girl with the grandparents, a nanny ...). If this situation happens with a child of three years of age or more, ready to begin the school, other solutions can be researched. For example help the child to make friends with another children of his class, or to try that the father or the grandmother or somebody of confidence accompany him in the morning to the day-care center or the school. Consider that the encounter with other children makes a greater number of inevitable respiratory infections and viruses.
Also is important to know that the child will take some time to get used to the food in the day-care center. To avoid catching too many colds and viruses, try to reinforce the immune system of your baby with a good diet rich in zinc and other minerals.
