Toddlers leotards
Ballet can be fun for the whole family
When Christmas time rolls around, lots of families consider taking their kids to see The Nutcracker Ballet. Though written in the 19th century, most children find the whimsical story fun and charming. Many a young girl decides they want to become Clara, the heroine girl of the story, and thus begins a life-long obsession with ballet. If this obsession rubs off on the younger kids, you may be in the dubious position of having to locate toddlers leotards as well as regular kid-size garments. Since sizes vary greatly by manufacturer, the most important thing to do before buying toddlers leotards is to measure your child.
How you measure your small child is quite simple (as long at they're not the squirming type!). Start by holding your tape measure at the top of your toddler's shoulder blade, then move the measuring tape over and down the front of their body, in-between their legs and up to where you began (the top of the shoulder blade.) This measurement is the most vital and will tell the clothing store exactly what size your baby needs. However it doesn't hurt to also measure the chest, hip and waist, too. Remember to save room in your budget later for pointe shoes. And children grow so fast that it wouldn't be a bad idea to purchase a few sizes larger for them to grow into. If your toddler really seems to like ballet class, you can schedule dates and times to see other family-friendly ballet productions such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella or Still Life at the Penguin Café.
