What does an ovulation temperature drop mean
What does an ovulation temperature drop mean?
You want a child, and have been trying to get pregnant for some time. but so far, no luck. By tracking your basal body temperature you can sometimes be certain when you are ovulating because you will notice an ovulation temperature drop indicating that you are ovulating and thus increasing your chances of getting pregnant.
To track your basal body temperature you will need a basal body thermometer. You can usually purchase these at any local pharmacy and they are relatively inexpensive. You begin by taking your temperature each morning before you get out of bed. You then record this temperature on the chart that comes with the thermometer kit. To accurately assess your temperature changes you need to make sure you take your temperature at the same time each morning.
As you track your temperature you will begin to notice a pattern. For many women the pattern is that the temperature will drop one or two degrees right before ovulation, rise again after ovulation and drop once menstruation begins. Tracking the ovulation temperature drop over a period of time, can then lead to knowing exactly when you are ovulating, and therefore fertile, increasing your chance of getting pregnant.
During an ovulation temperature drop, women are more likely to become pregnant because they are now ovulating. Ovulation usually lasts for a period of seven days. Tracking ovulation temperature drops can also be used to prevent pregnancy by refraining from sex during the seven days of ovulation.
